Santorini International Music Festival
The International Music Festival of Santorini takes place in September, and has been taking place every year since 1979. The Santorini Cultural Festival is organized by the Friends of Santorini Cultural Association, under the artistic direction of pianist Athena Capodistria. This international stage is a popular destination for well-known artists from all over the world. At this festival, there are solo recitals (piano, guitar, violin, cello), orchestras, and operatic music. The Chamber Music and Tango festivals are both more popular than other genres of classical music.
Mythical Beaches
The best beaches on Santorini, Kamari, Perissa and Perivolos are. There are many great places to swim in the area, and many places to rent beach chairs. There are also many good places to eat. There are many good beach resorts in the area, though few hotels are located right on the beach. Most resorts are located a short distance away from the water. Most of Santorini’s beaches are composed of dark volcanic sand that can be quite hot in the mid-day sun. Walking on the sand is recommended in beach sandals or water shoes.
